Can you flash back to 2012, a decade ago – where were you, how was the community you were living in?
In 2012, Endonyolasho Community had no access to a health facility within a radius of about 20 kilometers, no accessibility to electricity, road network and for over 5 decades since independence had no mobile communication.

When Alabaster Mobile Clinic Currently Alabaster International visited the community for the first time to hold a community health outreach, the mobilization was conducted verbally with the community elders walking house to house to inform the community of an upcoming health outreach.

The sick were brought to a community shrine, where they accessed treatment and sometimes referred for further medical support in as far as 60 kilometers away. The most sick were transported using wheelbarrows from their homes to the community outreach venue.
This was a humbling sight for our friends from the Global North and it prompted an idea for establishing a community clinic to ensure that the community continuously accesses quality health. It was in 2015 when the clinic was officially opened with over a thousand witnessing the ceremony.
